(ĐN)- The ninth National Patriotic Emulation Congress was opened in Hanoi on December 7, drawing 1,800 delegates who are role models in all spheres of life.

(ĐN)- The ninth National Patriotic Emulation Congress was opened in Hanoi on December 7, drawing 1,800 delegates who are role models in all spheres of life.

Dong Nai’s 30-member delegation led by Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai of the provincial People’s Committee attended the event.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, head of the Central Council for Emulation and Reward, highlighted the congress as a significant political event of the whole Party, people and army to honour role models in the national patriotic emulation movements.

Earlier, nearly 100 localities and organisations were honoured for remarkable achievements in the rural modernisation drive at a ceremony on December 6 as part of the ninth National Patriotic Emulation Congress.

Accordingly, Dong Nai was awarded the first-class Labour Order. It is among 13 cities and provinces lead the country in the number of communes recognised as new-styled rural areas and the amount of capital resources mobilized for the drive.

Currently, Dong Nai has 63 out of its 136 communes and Long Khanh town, Xuan Loc and Thong Nhat districts recognised as new-style rural areas.

On this occasion, Long Khanh town, Xuan Loc district and Thong Nhat district’s Xuan Thien commune were presented with the Government’s emulation flags and certificates of merit for their significant achievements in building new rural development.

As of November 2015, the country recognised 10 districts and 1,211 communes as new rural areas. By the end of this year, 1,500 communes nationwide are expected to receive the title.

The two-day congress reviewed the patriotic emulation movement and rewards given out between 2011 and 2015 while setting up orientations from now to 2020. Accordingly, outstanding collectives and individuals delivered speeches at the event.

A new emulation movement themed “Solidarity, creativity and emulation for national construction and protection” is also launched at the congress.
